Hook, Line & Sinker and the Schwyz connection

To form a connection across the Röstigraben in the music scene these days seems to be quite rare and unheard of. However, the stoner rock band from Fribourg, Hook, Line & Sinker have created quite the unexpected fan base in Canton Schwyz. On Saturday 14th November 2026, the trio will be back in their second home for the concert at the cult venue, Earl Music Club in Muotathal with Mouche-Miel.

When I was at the Kalkas concert at Safari Bar in Zurich, Hoss, the club manager at Earl Music Club was already telling me how much of a fan of the band he was. He would even go on to wear the band’s shirt designed by the fantastic artist Ludovic Chappex (who also plays guitar in Winter in Deutschland) in the music video for Kiss the Stone by the Early Greys. The cover album for the latest album, Terre Brûlée is also a photo from Hoss and later on in the article you will see the original photo next to the album cover.

Hook, Line & Sinker would also explain the connection between them and canton Schwyz in their Freunde and Résilience session but (in Fribourg fashion?) they switched between French and German whilst talking about it so unfortunately not everyone would be able to understand it. With the band’s return to Earl Music Club and canton Schwyz, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for the band to talk about their connection to the region in the own words. I would like to thank Sämi for his contribution. All photos in the article are from Hoss.

Sämi: It all started when we played a gig with Son Cesano back in 2019 at Zelig in Lausanne. We played together at this university venue and had a really cool evening together. Fast forward four years and for the EP-Release show of Leichenwagen at the Bad Bonn where we thought, that it would be a fitting moment to share the stage again, so we invited them to Düdingen to open the evening. The bond grew stronger and we started to follow each others musial paths!

Thanks to Son Cesano who recommended us we got to play at Earl Music Club in November 2024, our furthest-away concert to date. And it’s a bit crazy that Hoss booked us, a no-name-band from Fribourg to play in Muotathal - and we just got the most warm welcome by him and the tech, Märki. A small, but charming and loud venue with a gentle, curious but yet wild audience. Even though Fomies played the same night nearby, quite a few people came to see two bands from Zurich and Fribourg and the crowd went wild. We instantly realised that this concert would be special and our first thought after the gig was : “When can we come back?!“ We had a lot of chats with the people from the audience and had spent a great evening. Hoss took some pictures from the night, where we tested for the first time our new songs from Terre Brûlée live and these photos ended also up on the cover of the album. If you look closely, you can also recognise a Son Cesano shirt in the crowd :-)

But that’s not all - thanks to this gig we got play the wonderful Oile Air, also in Schwyz, at a crazy location, where we played with André Källn who booked us also for a concert at Mauz in late December 2025. Since the first concert at Earl’s, at every gig in the Innerschweiz (Luzern, Mauz, Oile Air) we recognise some familiar faces that saw us at Earl in 2024 and we greatly appreciate, that all of them came to see us again. Just like our friends back in Fribourg, there is a small community following us and for us this is just crazy. We’re really grateful for all these moments that happened thanks to Son Cesano, Hoss and André and are really looking forward, to pass again an evening at Earl and this time with our friends Mouche-Miel and yet again the lovely and wild people from Muotathal and around ! It’s like our Palm Desert for us, but prettier.
