Music video playlist - Spring 2025
I have noticed that I have come across a lot of great music videos over the past few months and I thought that I would share them and put them together in a playlist.
Let me know what you recommend or if there are any videos that I may have missed.
I am always a big fan of the videos that Batbait have released and this one is no exception. A video featuring the band (and other participants including Chacho) dancing on their balconies, the Sims and some 90s computer-generated visuals, Batbait take on one of Zurich’s (and Switzerland’s) most regularly asked questions - How Did My Apartment Get So Expensive.
I am definitely looking forward to their upcoming album and in the meantime I am still regularly going through their discography and watching the other videos on their YouTube channel.
Fomies’ second single (and second video) from their superb album, Liminality. And keeping with the second theme, also the second video directed by Radiana Basso - the other video being The Endless Joke.
The camera effects (night vision, thermal sensors) and scenes definitely capture the menacing, post-apocalyptic feel of the song.
It was also rumoured (but not confirmed) that the video was banned from YouTube and Instagram…
Also check out the video for The Onion Man here
A fun video for a fun song.
The band have the whole brocky (second hand shop) for themselves to go through all the items and perform their latest single there. The theme of the video and the images go really well with this catchy and playful song.
The band found their style with their D[E]AD JOKES EP and I’m looking forward to see how they build on the latest single.
The second video from Radiana Basso on this list is for Leopardo’s second single from their latest album SIDE A / SIDE B. It’s also worth checking out the video for the other single, Île d’Ogoz.
Instead of using my own words, I think it would be best to use the description from underneath the video about its scenario:
A Leopardian love’s priest travels to heaven in an attempt to re-educate the rebel angels. A series of exercises reveal the humanity of the celestial creatures, incapable of flying. In an attempt to challenge power, the angels kill the sun, recalling a paradox of Bukowski, who said: “poetry says too much in a very short time, in any case I enjoy threatening the sun with a water pistol" - Radiana Basso
I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming EP from Moictani, Mi coche azul.
All three videos for the singles are great and it’s noticeable that a lot of effort have been put into them. Here are the links for Pan con Tomate (featuring Jacob Atkinson from Fomies in the video) and Jour de Fête.
For this article I went for No me gusta, even if my knowledge of the Spanish language is quite limited.
Somehow I missed this video when preparing the article with Lost in a Detail about the post-rock scene in Switzerland and have added it since. The video mixes some wonderful visuals, a few Zurich landmarks including the Heureka, an acting performance from the band’s bassist, Bruno Kessler to create an enjoyable video for the band’s first single from their album, Eyes On The Stars, Feet On The Ground.
The album is definitely worth checking out too.
The third appearance on this list from Radiana Basso, this time as co-director with Alan Koprivec, for the first single from her newest project, Concetta Spaziale. Her performance at this year’s Kombinat Festival was definitely one of my highlights with her ambient neo-psychedelic rock.
The song has grown on me with each listen and the accompanying video is wonderful to watch - just don’t ask me to describe what happens in it.
A surreal journey through imaginary landscapes, impossible buildings, rhythmic structures, elegant dancers to a faraway destiny...
I have no idea the video was created but the visuals are very mesmerising and grab my attention for the whole duration. It’s great to see a video for a song that I have had on heavy rotation here and which was also included on the Spring 2025 Playlist.
For the last song on the playlist, I went for the haunting and atmospheric title track from Kevin Galland’s upcoming album. The simple yet effective video captures the feel of the song perfectly and I’m curious to see how his sound has evolved from his great debut EP, From The Mountains To The Sea.
